About

Our partner = Moda-Re

We needed a responsible way to discard all of this clothing. A company called Moda-Re agreed to come to the tower and pickup the clothes after this project was finished. They will either sell these clothes back or up cycle it into new products.

Moda re- (Spain) is a social enterprise born from Cáritas Española that combines textile recycling with social inclusion. It manages clothing from collection to resale, operating 8,200 containers, 170 stores, and 4 sorting centers. Through smart tech and recycling innovation, Moda re- promotes a circular, inclusive economy. Check them out here!

Did you know there is a giant pile of clothes sitting in the desert of chile right now? Yes, it is so big it can be seen from space!

This pile of clothes isn’t just fabric—it’s a symbol.

Every year, millions of tons of clothing are overproduced, returned, or discarded—often ending up in landfills or illegal dumps in places like Chile’s Atacama Desert. The global fashion industry, driven by fast fashion and consumer excess, has created an invisible crisis—one that’s out of sight, but devastating in its impact on the environment, labor conditions, and global waste systems.

We placed this clothing installation here to make that crisis visible.

Too Many Clothes invites you to pause and reflect. Every item in this pile once carried value. Now, like much of the clothing produced globally, it has been thrown away—not because it’s worn out, but because the system encourages endless consumption and disposability.

This isn’t just an art piece—it’s a call to awareness.
